Biotechnical Systems

Group organizer: JSC PA UOMP

What are we going to do?

In a multidisciplinary team to develop, to make, to launch and even enter into service a medical device.

What will we teach you?

  • Leading clinical specialists of Russia will tell you about how medical products work, why doctors need engineers and what product they expect from you.
  • Visiting lecturers will share the best world practices in the field of systems engineering, requirements management, industrial design.
  • During the work on the project and during the master classes a team of experienced engineers will share the features of engineering requirements, electronic design, pneumatics, mechanics, the software and even more importantly - how this makes a product.

What practical skills can be acquired or enhanced?

  • Team work on complex project;
  • Project management, planning;
  • Requirements engineering;
  • Digital and analogue electronics development, dc-dc converters, installation, repair and adjustment;
  • Development lifecycle of aerostructures for medical product, 3D printing, machining;
  • Developing a pneumatic model, assembly and adjustment of pneumatic circuits;
  • Firmware development for stm32 microcontroller (Cortex M4).

How would it work?

  1. You will choose one of the roles for yourself: a project manager, a requirements engineer, a mechanical designer, a design engineer on pneumatics, electronics engineer, a programmer of firmware.
  2. We divide you into teams trying to achieve level playing field and competences between teams.
  3. Each team is given equal amount of upfront investment which you can spend on development at your discretion.
